GaboroneDet Sydlige Afrikas Udviklingsfællesskabs møde i Gaborone var sidste chance. The Southern African Development Community meeting in Gaborone was admittedly presented as a final chance. Gaborone-ændringen til CITES-teksten fra 1983 vil give os mulighed for at underskrive konventionen. The Gaborone amendment to the CITES text from 1983 would allow us to become a party to the Convention. Kommissionen vil derfor intensivere sine bestræbelser på at overbevise tredjelande, der endnu ikke har ratificeret Gaborone-ændringen til CITES, om at gøre dette, så EU kan tiltræde konventionen. The Commission will, therefore, step up its efforts to convince third countries, which have not yet done so, to ratify the Gaborone amendment to CITES, which allows the EU to join the convention.
